At Hucklow Primary School we believe PE and Sport plays an important role in making our vision statement a reality for every pupil, with the potential to change young people’s lives for the better.

We have welcomed the Government’s announcement to provide additional funding to improve the provision of physical education and sports in primary schools. We are committed to ensuring that this money provides pupils with greater opportunities to engage in sporting and physical activities as well as ensuring that they receive a wider range of experiences to help them develop a fuller understanding of the world.

What does the Sport Premium Funding mean for Hucklow?

‘Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this’ (DfE June 2013).

The three key areas for consideration when allocating the funding are; Physical Education, Healthy Active Lifestyles and Competitive Sports.

Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer to:

  1. develop or add to the PE and sport activities that your school already offers
  2. build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

The DfE have outlined 5 key indicators across which schools should demonstrate an improvement.  The document below shows how we have allocated our sports premium grant against the DfE 5 key indicators.
